Creating Sacred Space Through Alchemy and Depth Psychology

This paper examines the intersection of alchemical philosophy and depth psychology as a transformative framework for interior design practice. Drawing on the work of C. G. Jung, James Hillman, Alchemical Psychology, Abidi Monsoor, Edward Edinger, Thomas Moore, and E. J. Holmyard, it argues that the ancient alchemical opus, with its sequential operations of nigredo, solutio, calcinatio, sublimatio, coagulatio, and rubedo, offers a psychologically rigorous, symbolically rich model for understanding how designed environments participate in the individuation process.
